THE ANTIQUITIES IN NORTHWESTERN TROIZINIA

An Ancient town (1400-1300 BC) have been found where now lies the Dryopi village, and in Ano Fanari village have been discovered ruins of a settlement and graves of the Geometric and Roman period.

Northeast of the village of Ano Fanari and at the top of the hill there is the "Castle", a medieval fortifications, one of the five extant today.

Also above this village lies the famous Kokkinovrachos (red rock) , which is the entrance to a gorge, known as the "Canyon of Love", because there according to legend, Hippolytus (son of Theseus) was killed.
