Vathi village is situated on the western side of the Methana peninsula, located in the northeastern part of the Peloponnese, and is known for its thermal baths and the volcano in the village of Kameni Chora. It is surrounded by the sea, except for a narrow strip of land with which it is connected with the Argolic peninsula.

The Methana peninsula itself is a mountainous area with its highest point on the top of mountain Helona, which is 740 meters above the sea level.

On the Methana peninsula, the morphology of the terrain reveals the volcanic origin of the peninsula. This terrain physiology has helped in the creaiton of a beautiful green environment in the peninsula area, between the hills, the valleys and the low plateaus.

On the peninsula there are about 30 volcanic domes and the last volcanic activity was under the water in 1700 in the northern part in front of Methana. The Methana Volcano is characterized as an active volcano, is located at the western end of the South Aegean volcanic arc with significant geothermal potential and makes Methana a very important destination for geological research.

The climate of the Methana peninsula is temperate, healthy, sweet in winter and cool in the summer, with temperature variations, not particularly intense, between the coastal zone and the mountainous and semi-mountainous hinterland.

Inside the normal limits are the rainfall and humidity rates that support the survival of rich woodland (some half of the total territory of the Municipality) and related fauna. In general, the climate of the Methana peninsula, along with the rainfall rates, favors the agricultural and livestock farms as well.

Methana is very close to Athens, just 1 hour and 45 minutes by ferry boat, and the beaches of the peninsula are made up of many small, windy coves with clear blue waters.
