At the westernmost end of the Methana Peninsula, beyond Vathi, on the cape, you will find the "Krasopanagia" chapel, built on the steep cliffs of the coast, in front of very deep waters, which in some places reach 150 meters.

The tradition wants in front of the cape a boat filled with barrels of wine to fall into a great seashore. The boat was in danger of being destroyed at the steep cliffs and the boat captain (who was a merchant) prayed to the Virgin Mary and begged her to save him and his boat. As a "vow" he would build a church made from wine and not water.

According to legend the merchant built the church with mud created from wine and not water. Thats why the mane of the church is "Krasopanagia" (Wine Virgin Mary).
